Situated between mountainous terrain and the Pacific
Ocean, Camarillo has steadily evolved from a small
agricultural town to a desirable ocean-side community,
complete with an historic downtown. First developed in
1910, the city has been undergoing repair and improvements
since the late 1990s. What has emerged is a functional blend
of convenient, updated shopping centers, along with the
preservation of the city’s cultural history.
The city’s successful revitalization is evidenced by Old Town,
a mile-long strip of businesses along Ventura Boulevard,
which features casual cafés, upscale restaurants and
antique shops. Old Town is where residents gather for annual
events, and to shop at a Saturday morning farmer’s market
filled with fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Beautiful, contemporary neighborhoods have been
carefully designed to integrate with strawberry fields and citrus
orchards, allowing residents to benefit from a progressive
infrastructure without sacrificing open space. Camarillo
also attracts acclaim from golfers, who enjoy several wellregarded
private and public courses.
