Infused with a successful, ongoing revitalization, Ventura’s
historic cultural district attracts upscale dining, shopping
and entertainment venues while maintaining a beach
town rich in California’s history. Preservationist societies
work hand-in-hand with the City and business owners to
preserve historical landmarks and create economic opportunity.
Some of these landmarks currently house the city’s
prominent restaurants, day spas and businesses; others
are living museums and cultural gathering spots.
The revitalization effort is equally invested in the city’s flourishing
cultural arts. “There’s this synergy flowing through
Ventura because we have a community of residents who
believe in the cultural arts,” says Ventura Chamber of
Commerce president Zoe Taylor. The result is evident within
the city’s many museums, galleries and performance
venues, as well as the ongoing farmer’s markets, street
fairs, Art Walks and active nonprofit organizations. Part of
the inspiration stems from the city’s reverence toward its
unique landscape; a picturesque blend of mountainous terrain
and pristine beaches, where adventure and vacation
seekers come to explore and relax.
The city also maintains a slew of public parks, recreational
facilities, a public golf course and boasts the longest wooden
pier in the state. As visitors explore Ventura, they’ll discover
a classic beach town that’s hip enough for a burgeoning
arts community, and relaxed enough for residents to
prosper and maintain a true California lifestyle.
