The Conejo Valley borders eastern Ventura County and
northwestern Los Angeles County and is considered
one of the nation’s more affluent areas. It includes the
Ventura County cities of Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park,
Westlake Village and Oak Park. These master-planned cities
are distinctive for their dramatic landscape, sprawling,
secluded neighborhoods, excellent school systems and low
crime rates.
Conejo Valley is a significant aspect of Southern California’s
Tech Coast region. Prominent aerospace and defense system
manufacturers, and research and development firms
maintain regional headquarters here. Amgen Corporation,
one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies, maintains
its corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, where it
was established in 1979. Some of the area’s other high-profile
employers include Baxter Health Care Corporation,
General Dynamics Corporation, Rockwell International and
Jafra Cosmetics.
A vast landscape and plenty of open space also promotes
myriad recreational activities across the Conejo Valley.
Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village are home to more
than 140,000 acres of public open space and 85 miles of biking
and equestrian trails. Conejo Valley residents are also
benefactors of the region’s many arts programs, and loyal
patrons of the stylish restaurants that have established
themselves as premier Ventura County destinations.
